GTA 6 Extended Look is official; 25-minute ‘Extended Leek’ upload is unverified

CONFIRMED

Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look is real and already out. The Rockstar Games Newswire confirmed it premiered on Netflix. A separate, roughly 25-minute upload circulating as “Extended Leek” is a different file entirely, and nobody has verified it.

What we know

Rockstar confirmed via its Newswire that the Extended Look would premiere on Netflix on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026 at 3 p.m. ET. It would then go to the Rockstar YouTube channel and the GTA VI site at 9 p.m. ET the same day. The same post lists the release as Nov. 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

GameSpot reported, citing the Netflix app listing, that the runtime is 26 minutes and that the footage was captured on PS5. PC Gamer also gives 26 minutes, while Variety counts 27. Call it roughly 26 to 27 minutes. That is a counting difference, not a contradiction.

PC Gamer describes the video as a montage of gameplay clips. Some clips are very brief and others show extended mission scenes. Rockstar also offered a downloadable 4K copy. It is the longest official look so far, following Trailer 1 in December 2023 and Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025.

From the Extended Look, GameSpot reports that the map is three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2’s. GameSpot also reports that Rockstar’s Rob Nelson estimated his own playthrough at about 80 hours.

The leak backdrop is also on record. GameSpot’s timeline says an anonymous party calling itself CyberLeek began posting clips in mid-August, starting Aug. 18. Variety reported on Aug. 21 that Take-Two and Rockstar filed for federal court subpoenas to Microsoft and Discord over the leaks. Rockstar issued a statement on Aug. 26 calling the leaks “heartbreaking,” and GameSpot and GTABoom report it confirmed the Nov. 19 date was unchanged.

What is rumored

CyberLeek, an anonymous leaker with no prior track record, is reported by GameSpot and GTABoom to have posted about 14 clips and map images. Rockstar’s statement treated the leaks as genuine. The leaker’s identity, method and wider claims remain unconfirmed, though some outlets attribute them to a “hacker group.”

The “Extended Leek” upload is a separate item. A Yahoo Tech roundup of PC Guide, Dot Esports and Vice reporting says it surfaced roughly in early-to-mid October. It reportedly runs about 25 minutes and mostly covers racing missions, outfit customization and a base-jump sequence. Vice says it appears to match the official trailer but may come from an older build. Dot Esports notes signs of a debug or developer build. No named source stands behind it, there is no independent confirmation, and Rockstar has not commented.

What we don’t know yet

We don’t know whether “Extended Leek” is authentic, how old the build is, or whether it is connected to CyberLeek. We also don’t know who CyberLeek is or how the August material got out. We will not speculate on that. The outcome of the subpoena filings has not been reported.

Variety also reports 31.1M Netflix views from Aug. 27 to 30, and quotes Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick saying the Netflix deal signals GTA 6 is a major entertainment tentpole. We have not been able to confirm those figures independently.

Two items with similar names and runtimes are being blurred together. Headlines such as “GTA 6 Netflix Extended Look: 26 Min Leaked” are wrong. The 26-minute figure belongs to the sanctioned release, per Rockstar Newswire, GameSpot and PC Gamer. Pieces telling fans to “brace” for the Netflix reveal, as Herald.Wales framed it, are out of date, since the premiere happened in August.

For players, the official record is clear. The Extended Look is out, the map is reportedly three times RDR2’s, and the release date remains Nov. 19. Anything labelled “Extended Leek” should be treated as unverified until Rockstar or a reliable outlet says otherwise.
