Privacy Policy
RockstarSpy is a small, independent site covering Rockstar Games news, rumours and leaks. We collect as little information about you as we can get away with, and this page explains exactly what that is, why we hold it, and what you can do about it.
The short version
- You cannot register, log in or post comments here, so we hold no account data on anyone.
- Our web server and Cloudflare keep standard technical logs to keep the site running and fend off attacks.
- We use only the cookies the site needs to work. If we add analytics, it will be a privacy-friendly tool that does not track you across the web.
- Embedded trailers from video platforms can set their own cookies. That is under their control, not ours.
- If you send us a tip, we use it only to check the story. We never publish your name or details without your clear permission.
RockstarSpy is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive. Anything you share with us stays with us.
What we don’t collect
There are no user accounts, no comment sections, no newsletter sign-up forms and no forums on this site. We do not ask for your name, email address or any other personal details just to read our articles. You can browse everything we publish without telling us who you are.
Server logs
Like almost every website, our hosting server records basic technical details each time a page is requested. A typical log entry includes:
- The IP address the request came from
- The date and time of the request
- The page or file requested
- The browser and operating system reported by your device
- The page that linked you here, if your browser shares it
We keep these logs to diagnose errors, spot abusive traffic and understand roughly how much load the site is under. We do not use them to build profiles of individual readers, and we do not sell or share them with advertisers.
Cloudflare
RockstarSpy sits behind Cloudflare, which handles DNS, caching and protection against bots and denial-of-service attacks. To do that job, Cloudflare processes connection data such as your IP address, request headers and traffic patterns as it passes through their network. Cloudflare may also set a security cookie in your browser when its systems need to check whether a visit is coming from a real person rather than an automated script.
Cloudflare acts as a service provider on our behalf. Their own privacy policy describes how they handle this data, and we encourage you to read it if you want the full detail.
Cookies
We use only cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to function. That currently means:
- Security cookies set by Cloudflare, as described above
- Any cookie needed to remember a basic site preference, such as a display setting, if we add one
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or cross-site identifiers. Because these cookies are essential, we do not show a cookie banner asking you to accept them. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time, though some protective features may stop working if you do.
Analytics
Right now we may be running, or may in future add, a privacy-focused analytics tool so we can see which articles people are reading and where visitors are arriving from. If we do, the tool will be one that works without personal identifiers, does not set tracking cookies and does not share data with ad networks. Any figures we see are aggregated, for example “this GTA VI article had 400 views today,” never “this particular person read these articles.”
If that approach ever changes, we will update this page before the change goes live.
Embedded trailers and third-party content
Our articles often embed trailers, gameplay footage and clips hosted on platforms such as YouTube. When you load a page with an embedded video, your browser connects directly to that platform, and the platform may set its own cookies or collect data about your visit in line with its own privacy policy. We have no control over what those platforms do with that data.
Where the platform offers a privacy-enhanced embed mode that limits tracking until you actually press play, we use it. If you would rather avoid third-party content altogether, a content blocker in your browser will stop these embeds from loading.
Tips you send us
Leaks and tips are the lifeblood of a site like this, and we take protecting the people who send them seriously. When you contact us with a tip:
- We use what you send us solely to verify, research and, where justified, report the story.
- We never name you, quote you in a way that could identify you, or describe you in print without your explicit consent.
- We do not share your identity or contact details with other outlets, with Rockstar, with Take-Two or with anyone else.
- We keep your original message only as long as it is useful for checking the story, then delete it.
If you want to stay anonymous, we recommend contacting us from an account or address that is not linked to your real name, and avoiding details about yourself that are not relevant to the tip. We will treat whatever you share with care, but your own precautions are the strongest protection you have.
Please do not send us copyrighted builds, source code or confidential documents in full. Describing what you have seen is enough for us to work with.
How long we keep data
- Server logs: Retained for a limited period, typically a matter of weeks, then automatically overwritten.
- Cloudflare logs: Held according to Cloudflare’s own retention schedule, which is short and designed around security needs.
- Analytics data: If used, held only in aggregated form with no personal identifiers.
- Tips and messages: Deleted once the story has been verified, published or dropped, unless you ask us to keep a line of contact open.
We do not maintain any long-term database of visitor information.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, data protection law may give you the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how it is used, or to receive a copy of it. In practice, the only personal data we are ever likely to hold is a message you chose to send us, and we will delete that on request.
To exercise any of these rights, get in touch using the contact details on the site. We will respond as quickly as we reasonably can. If you believe we have mishandled your data, you also have the right to complain to the data protection authority in your country.
Children
RockstarSpy covers games that are rated for adults, and the site is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal details, contact us and we will delete them promptly.
Changes to this policy
We will revise this page whenever our tools or practices change, for example if we add analytics or switch hosting providers. The date of the most recent update will be noted on this page. Significant changes will be flagged clearly rather than quietly slipped in.
Contact
Questions about privacy, requests to delete a message, or concerns about how we handled a tip can be sent through the contact details published on this site. We read everything that comes in.
