Pharmaceutical research missions in GTA Online

Pharmaceutical Research is a Nightclub warehouse good in GTA Online. Your Meth Lab supplies it, and a Nightclub technician turns it into stock. A full load is 20 units worth $8,500 each, or $170,000, and it fills in 20 hours with the Equipment Upgrade.

How Pharmaceutical Research works

The Nightclub doesn’t make anything itself. Each warehouse good is tied to a business you already own. Technicians “source” stock from that business passively while you play.

Pharmaceutical Research is linked only to the Meth Lab. You only need to own the lab. It does not need supplies, and it does not have to be producing meth.

The Acid Lab from Los Santos Drug Wars is not linked to it. Players mix these up constantly.

Quick steps: start accumulating Pharmaceutical Research

  1. Buy a Nightclub from the Maze Bank Foreclosures website and finish its setup.
  2. Buy a Clubhouse, which is required before you can own any MC business.
  3. Buy any Meth Lab from Maze Bank Foreclosures.
  4. Go to your Nightclub, use the office computer and open Warehouse management.
  5. Assign a technician to Pharmaceutical Research.
  6. Buy the Equipment Upgrade to double production speed.

Stat Value
Linked business Meth Lab
Value per unit $8,500
Max units (5 floors) 20
Full stock value $170,000
Time per unit 120 min (60 min with Equipment Upgrade)
Time to fill 40 hours (20 hours upgraded)

Storage by Nightclub floor

Your Nightclub starts with one storage floor. You can add four more. Pharmaceutical Research capacity grows by 4 units per floor.

Storage floors Max Pharmaceutical Research
1 4 units
2 8 units
3 12 units
4 16 units
5 20 units

With only one floor, your technician stops after 4 units. That’s $45,900 and roughly four hours of work. If you plan to run this seriously, buy the extra floors.

How it compares to other Nightclub goods

You get one technician free and can hire up to five. That means you’ll pick five of seven goods. This table uses Equipment Upgrade rates at full storage.

Good Linked business Per unit Max units Full value Value per hour
South American Imports Cocaine Lockup $20,000 10 $200,000 $10,000
Cargo and Shipments CEO Warehouse or Hangar $10,000 50 $500,000 ~$8,570
Pharmaceutical Research Meth Lab $8,500 20 $170,000 $8,500
Sporting Goods Bunker $5,000 100 $500,000 $7,500
Cash Creation Counterfeit Cash Factory $3,500 40 $140,000 $5,250
Organic Produce Weed Farm $1,500 80 $120,000 $4,500
Printing and Copying Document Forgery Office $1,000 60 $60,000 $2,000

Pharmaceutical Research ranks third on hourly value. It is a clear pick for one of your five technicians.

Its real strength is speed to a full bar. It caps at the same 20 hours as South American Imports. Cargo and Sporting Goods take close to three days to fill. The same Bunker you use for GTA Online gunrunning feeds Sporting Goods, so most players run both.

A full Nightclub across all seven goods is worth $1,931,500.

Agent's note

Nightclub stock is never raided. You can leave Pharmaceutical Research sitting at 20/20 for weeks with no risk. That’s not true of the Meth Lab’s own product.

Why your Nightclub is not accumulating Pharmaceutical Research

This is the most common complaint about the good. Work through these in order.

  • No technician assigned. Check the Warehouse management screen. The assigned good is displayed under each technician’s portrait.
  • You don’t own a Meth Lab. Pharmaceutical Research won’t even be selectable without one.
  • Storage is full. If the bar shows 20/20, or the cap for your floor count, production has stopped. Sell or add floors.
  • You’re not in a session. Stock only builds while you’re loaded into GTA Online. Story Mode doesn’t count. Invite-only and solo public sessions do.
  • Display glitch. Some players report the counter freezing. Reassigning the technician or changing sessions usually clears it.

Selling it

You sell from the same Nightclub computer. You can sell Pharmaceutical Research alone or bundle it with other goods. Larger sales use the Mule Custom or Pounder Custom delivery vehicles and are harder to finish solo.

Selling at 20 units for $229,500 is easy to handle alone. Stacking it with South American Imports gives you $499,500 in a manageable delivery.

Heads up

There are no GTA Online cheat codes for Pharmaceutical Research. Story Mode cheats don’t work online, and “money cheats” sold as tools or menus put your account at real risk of a ban.

Which version this applies to

Pharmaceutical Research works the same on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC Legacy and PC Enhanced. PC Enhanced launched in March 2025. PS4 and Xbox One support for GTA Online ended on December 16, 2024.

If you’re short on cash for the Meth Lab, heist money is the fastest legitimate source. The Cayo Perico heist is the standard solo pick.

No. Nightclub warehouse stock is safe from raids.

Dana Ortiz covers GTA Online and GTA 5, the part of the series that changes every week. She tracks the Thursday update cycle: new vehicles, bonus events, discounts, heist tweaks and the patch notes behind them. Her money guides are built around what actually pays per hour at a given moment, not what paid six months ago, and she revises them when Rockstar adjusts payouts. Patches get the same treatment, with attention to what was fixed, what broke and what players are reporting that the official notes skip. She writes for people who have a few hours a week to play and want each one to count.
