GTA 6 release date: what is confirmed and when you can play
The release date for GTA 6 is November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That date came after two official delays, and Rockstar and Take-Two have both treated it as final since it was set. Here is the full file: what is locked, what is still speculation, and what you should actually do before launch.
What we know
Rockstar set the current date in a short statement on November 6, 2025. The studio said the extra months were needed to finish the game “with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.” Take-Two confirmed it the same day during its quarterly earnings call.
Since then, Take-Two leadership has repeatedly reaffirmed November 19 and publicly described it as locked. No earnings call, trailer or Rockstar Newswire post has walked that back.
Here is how the date moved over time.
| Date announced | Stated launch window | What changed |
|---|---|---|
| December 4, 2023 | “Coming 2025” (Trailer 1) | First public target, no specific day |
| May 2, 2025 | May 26, 2026 | Delay one, announced four days before Trailer 2 |
| November 6, 2025 | November 19, 2026 | Delay two, roughly six months added |
Two trailers exist. Trailer 1 dropped on December 4, 2023, a day early after it leaked. Trailer 2 arrived May 6, 2025, alongside a batch of screenshots and the first official character and location rundown on Rockstar’s site.
What the trailers and official materials have confirmed about the game itself:
- Setting: the state of Leonida, Rockstar’s take on Florida, with Vice City as the main hub.
- Other named areas: Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Ambrosia, Mount Kalaga and Port Gellhorn.
- Protagonists: Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, playable as a pair.
- Supporting cast introduced so far: Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre’Quan Priest, the duo Real Dimez, Raul Bautista and Brian Heder.
Pre-orders open June 25, according to Rockstar’s own storefront page. Once that page is live with a cart, pricing and any edition breakdown will be visible there first. Until Rockstar prints a number, nothing you read about price is confirmed.
What is rumored

Every item below is unconfirmed. Treat it that way.
| Rumor | Source | Our call |
|---|---|---|
| $80 or $100 standard edition | Analyst speculation (Konvoy Ventures predicted $80 in 2025; Wedbush Securities’ Michael Pachter and Epyllion’s Matthew Ball separately floated $100) | Plausible but unproven. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick only said the company aims to deliver “more value than what we charge” |
| PC version 12 to 18 months after console | Pattern-based, not a leak. GTA V took 19 months; Red Dead Redemption 2 took about 12 | Likely, but Rockstar has said nothing |
| A third delay into 2027 | Social media chatter, no named insider | DEBUNKED for now. Take-Two has stood by November 19 in every public update |
| Trailer 3 timed to pre-orders | Fan speculation | Reasonable guess. Rockstar paired Trailer 2 with a date announcement, so a marketing beat around June 25 fits its habits |
Price. Zelnick has dodged the question at every opportunity. Analyst notes pushing $100 got wide coverage, but no retailer listing, ratings board filing or Rockstar page has shown a number. Credibility: low until the storefront goes live.
PC. Rockstar has never shipped a mainline GTA on PC day one. GTA V hit consoles on September 17, 2013, and PC on April 14, 2015. Red Dead Redemption 2 launched October 26, 2018, with PC following November 5, 2019. Nothing about GTA 6 suggests that pattern is changing, but it is a pattern, not a report.
Another delay. Rockstar’s own history is the only real evidence for this one, and it cuts both ways.
| Game | Original target | Final release | Slips |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTA IV | October 16, 2007 | April 29, 2008 | 1 |
| GTA V | Spring 2013 | September 17, 2013 | 1 |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | Fall 2017 | October 26, 2018 | 2 |
| GTA 6 | 2025 | November 19, 2026 | 2 |
GTA 6 has now matched Red Dead Redemption 2’s two slips, and that game shipped on its final date. A third delay would be unprecedented for a Rockstar flagship.
What it means

For Take-Two, November 19 lands in fiscal Q3 2027, the quarter ending December 31, 2026. That is the holiday quarter, the one the company has been guiding investors toward since the November 2025 call. Moving again would blow up a year of financial messaging, which is why the date is being treated as firm by the people with the most to lose.
For you, the practical read is simple. Budget for a console purchase if you don’t already own a PS5 or Series X|S, because there is no sign of a day-one PC port. Expect the price question to resolve itself on June 25, and expect a heavy marketing push through the second half of 2026.
Agent's note
Rockstar has twice announced delays four to six months before the previous date. The window for a third delay would be roughly May to July 2026. If pre-orders open on schedule on June 25, read that as the strongest signal yet that November 19 holds.
Heads up
Any site, Discord or YouTube channel offering GTA 6 “early access,” beta keys or a playable build before launch is a scam. Rockstar has announced no beta. Do not enter your Rockstar Games account details anywhere but rockstargames.com.
What happens next

Three checkpoints sit between now and launch, in order:
- Pre-orders opening June 25, with pricing and editions appearing on Rockstar’s storefront.
- Take-Two’s fiscal Q1 2027 earnings in August 2026, the last scheduled investor update before the holiday quarter.
- Gameplay footage. Rockstar has shown only trailers so far. A gameplay reveal, as it did for GTA V in July 2013, typically arrives two to four months ahead of release.
Any change to the date would come through the Rockstar Newswire and a Take-Two filing, usually on the same day. Nothing else counts.
