GTA 6 PC version reportedly planned for Q1 2027, GamesBeat cites four sources

By Fact-checked by Terrence Abiola Updated

UPDATED · Oct 23, 2026

Update, October 23, 2026: GosuGamers and eTeknix have now repeated GamesBeat’s Q1 2027 PC window, and eTeknix’s headline calls it “Confirmed.” It is not; Rockstar and Take-Two still have not announced a PC version, so the window remains a rumor with more outlets attached.

GamesBeat reported on October 13, 2026 that Rockstar plans to ship the PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI in the first quarter of 2027, citing four anonymous industry sources. GosuGamers and eTeknix are the latest outlets to repeat that report, which adds reach but no evidence. Rockstar did not respond to GamesBeat’s request for comment, and neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has announced a PC version.

What we know

The paper trail is short. Take-Two’s Q1 FY2027 earnings release, filed with the SEC as a Form 8-K, lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S with a November 19, 2026 release date. GTA VI gets no PC entry.

Take-Two’s proxy filing (Form DEF 14A) scheduled the annual shareholder meeting for September 17, 2026. That filing does not mention a PC version of GTA VI either.

At the meeting, investors asked about the PC version among other topics, Kotaku reported on September 18. Kotaku attributes no PC date or announcement to CEO Strauss Zelnick, who has answered such questions only vaguely over the years. GamesRadar+ reported that Zelnick said PC is becoming more and more important to the company over time, again without a GTA VI PC date.

In May 2026, Zelnick told Bloomberg that Rockstar always starts on console, per GamesRadar+. He added that a big title’s PC share can reach 45 to 50 percent of sales, and that a Sony marketing deal was not the reason for the console-first approach.

The game has already slipped twice. Announced on December 4, 2023 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S with a 2025 window, it moved to May 2026 and then to November, per VideoCardz.

What is rumored

The core claim comes from GamesBeat, in a piece bylined to Alexander Lee. It says Rockstar intends to release the PC version in Q1 2027, January through March. Four industry sources familiar with the studio’s plans told GamesBeat this, all anonymously to avoid damaging business relationships.

GamesBeat is an established trade outlet, and four sources is more than most GTA rumors carry. But none are named, we found no prior GamesBeat track record on Rockstar leaks, and nothing from Rockstar or Take-Two corroborates it. Treat it as unconfirmed.

The echo keeps growing. Insider Gaming, PC World, Tom’s Hardware, TechRadar, Heise and VideoCardz ran it, and GosuGamers and eTeknix are the newest additions. All trace back to the single GamesBeat report. eTeknix’s “Confirmed” headline is wrong; the same headline also labels the story “Rumour,” and Heise notes that Rockstar and Take-Two have not announced a PC version.

A weaker signal points the same way. Dataminers found files tied to a GTA Online update that suggested PC work on GTA VI, according to earlier GTA Boom coverage. We could not trace that to a named researcher or locate the original datamine, and it gives no release window.

What we don’t know yet

Whether a PC version has a date at all. No filing, statement or announcement from Rockstar or Take-Two names one. We also don’t know whether GamesBeat’s sources describe a firm plan or an internal target, or whether the reported datamine reflects real PC work.

What it means

History argues for patience. GTA V launched on consoles in September 2013 and reached PC in April 2015, about 19 months later. Red Dead Redemption 2 launched in October 2018 and hit PC in November 2019. A Q1 2027 PC release would land roughly 43 to 132 days after the November 19 console launch, a sharp break from that pattern.

Earlier estimates ran later. PC World and PC Gamer previously pegged PC for late 2027 or later, and PC World, citing its own analysis, expected late 2027 or early 2028. Earlier PC timing claims for this game, including a Corsair CEO hint at early 2026, did not match the official schedule.

Zelnick’s comments fit a PC release eventually, which was never in doubt. They say nothing about Q1 2027. Four anonymous sources is a lead worth logging, and two more outlets repeating it does not change its weight. It is not a date to plan a hardware purchase around until Rockstar puts it in writing.
