GTA 6 map: every confirmed region and landmark in Leonida
Rockstar has not published an official GTA 6 map image, interactive or otherwise. What it has confirmed, through two trailers and the rockstargames.com/VI site refresh of May 2025, is the state of Leonida and six named regions inside it, led by Vice City. Everything else you see labelled “GTA 6 map” online is fan reconstruction, leak extrapolation or outright fabrication, and this briefing sorts which is which.
What we know
The state of Leonida
Rockstar’s announcement copy from December 2023 put it plainly: Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond. That single sentence settled two long-running questions. The game is not a single-city affair like 2002’s Vice City, and the setting is a fictional take on Florida at the state level, the same way San Andreas stood in for California and Nevada.
The “and beyond” part matters for anyone trying to size the world. Trailer 1 jumped between art deco beachfront, swampland, a mud-racing club and a prison, which told you the playable area runs well past the city limits. Trailer 2, released May 6, 2025, filled in the names.
The six confirmed regions
When the second trailer dropped, Rockstar rebuilt the GTA VI website around characters and places. Six locations got their own pages, which is the closest thing to an official GTA 6 map that currently exists.
| Region | Real-world echo | What Rockstar has shown |
|---|---|---|
| Vice City | Miami and Miami Beach | Skyline, beachfront strip, nightlife, VCPD cruisers, Boobie Ike’s Jack of Hearts club and Only Raw Records |
| Leonida Keys | The Florida Keys | Low-rise island chain, stilt houses, boats and docks, Jason Duval’s home turf and Brian Heder’s smuggling operation |
| Grassrivers | The Everglades | Sawgrass wetlands, airboats, alligators, remote dwellings |
| Port Gellhorn | Gulf Coast resort towns such as Panama City Beach | A faded tourist strip with motels, bars and a shabby, dangerous present |
| Ambrosia | Belle Glade and the Lake Okeechobee sugar belt | Flat inland farmland anchored by an industrial processing plant |
| Mount Kalaga National Park | North Florida forest, with liberties taken on elevation | Pine woodland, hills, hunting country and dirt roads |
Vice City is the anchor. It is the only region with multiple named interior businesses so far, and the Trailer 2 character pages tie most of the music and nightlife cast to it. Dre’Quan Priest, Real Dimez and Boobie Ike all operate out of the city.
The Leonida Keys are the second-most detailed area because that is where Jason lives and works. Rockstar’s character copy describes him running jobs for Brian Heder, a local drug runner, which makes the island chain the game’s early-story hub in the same way Blaine County served Trevor.
Grassrivers and Mount Kalaga give the map its wilderness. Port Gellhorn and Ambrosia give it the small-town rot that every Rockstar map since GTA IV has leaned on. Together the six regions cover coast, swamp, farmland, forest and metropolis, which is a wider biome spread than GTA 5 managed.
Landmarks you can already place from the trailers
Beyond the regional names, a handful of specific locations are confirmed simply because they appear on screen or in official captions.
- The Vice City beachfront strip with pastel art deco hotels, the clear Ocean Drive analogue from Trailer 1.
- The Jack of Hearts, Boobie Ike’s strip club, and his recording studio Only Raw Records, both named on the official site.
- A Thrillbilly Mud Club event, captioned in Trailer 1’s social-media montage, which places organised mud racing somewhere rural.
- The state prison where Lucia Caminos’s story opens, shown in both trailers.
- A long causeway and bridge network linking the Keys, visible in Trailer 2’s boat and car shots.
- Port Gellhorn’s roadside signage and strip of low-rent motels and bars, seen in Trailer 2.
None of these come with coordinates. Rockstar has never released a map ahead of launch, though GTA 5’s full map leaked from a prematurely released strategy guide about a week before the game shipped in September 2013.
Platforms and timing
The confirmed “release date for gta 6” is November 19, 2026, after two delays: the first from fall 2025 to May 26, 2026, the second to November. Platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no PC announcement, and Rockstar has stayed on its usual pattern of launching on consoles first.
What is rumored

Every item below is unconfirmed. Treat all of it as working theory until Rockstar or Take-Two says otherwise.
The community mapping project
Source: the GTA 6 Mapping Community, a volunteer group that formed on Reddit and Discord after Trailer 1 and has released several revisions of a reconstructed Leonida map.
Their method is solid for what it is. They align trailer frames against known Florida geography, pull coordinate data referenced in the 2022 leak footage, and triangulate road layouts and shoreline shapes. The result looks like a compressed Florida peninsula with Vice City on the southeast coast, the Keys trailing off the bottom, Grassrivers filling the interior south and Port Gellhorn up on a northern gulf shore.
Our credibility call: moderate on shape, low on scale. The regional arrangement matches everything Rockstar has shown, and the project has correctly predicted locations later confirmed by Trailer 2. Their size estimates, which have ranged widely between revisions and generally put Leonida somewhere between 1.5 and 2 times GTA 5’s land area, rest on assumptions about draw distance and travel speed that nobody outside Rockstar can check. Status: RUMOR.
Locations from the 2022 leak
Source: the September 2022 breach in which roughly 90 development videos were posted online. Rockstar confirmed the intrusion was real, and the person responsible, Arion Kurtaj, was sentenced in a UK court in December 2023.
The footage showed a working Vice City, a metro system, interior of a diner during a robbery and debug text referencing county and district names. Mapping enthusiasts have treated those strings as a location list ever since.
Our credibility call: authentic but stale. The leak was early development material, several years before release. Place names, districts and even entire areas can be cut, renamed or redrawn between a 2022 build and a 2026 ship. Any “GTA 6 map” that lists leak-only locations as confirmed is overreaching. Status: RUMOR for map specifics, with the leak itself CONFIRMED as real.
Post-launch map expansion
Source: Jason Schreier at Bloomberg, July 2021, reporting that Rockstar planned to launch with a fictional Miami and surrounding region and could add new areas and cities in updates over time. Tom Henderson at Insider Gaming reported a similar “evolving map” plan in 2022.
Our credibility call: plausible, unverified. The business logic lines up with how GTA Online has been monetised for over a decade, and Rockstar has already shipped Cayo Perico as a new island for GTA Online. However, nothing in the trailers, the website or any Take-Two earnings call has mentioned expanding Leonida after launch. Status: RUMOR.
“Double the size of GTA 5” and viral map images
Source: various social accounts and YouTube thumbnails, usually unsourced.
Our credibility call: ignore. Rockstar and Take-Two have given no square mileage, no hour count and no comparison figure. Take-Two executives have described the game only in general terms about scale and ambition. Any crisp “X square miles” number attached to the GTA 6 map is invented. Several circulating “official GTA 6 map” images are also known fakes, including recoloured Florida outlines and edited GTA 5 maps. Status: DEBUNKED for the specific images that have been traced back to fan edits, RUMOR for the rest.
Heads up
There is no official GTA 6 map download, APK, mod or “early access map pack”. Anything offering one is a scam or malware vector, and Rockstar will not be releasing map files before November 2026.
How Leonida compares to earlier GTA maps

Nothing official exists for GTA 6’s scale, so the only honest comparison is between the confirmed design and the series history. Sizes below are long-standing community measurements, not Rockstar figures.
| Game | Setting | Approximate land area | Structure |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTA III (2001) | Liberty City | Roughly 3 sq mi | Three islands, one city |
| GTA Vice City (2002) | Vice City | Roughly 3.5 sq mi | Two main islands, one city |
| GTA San Andreas (2004) | State of San Andreas | Roughly 14 sq mi | Three cities plus countryside |
| GTA IV (2008) | Liberty City | Roughly 6 sq mi | Dense single city, four boroughs |
| GTA V (2013) | Los Santos and Blaine County | Roughly 49 sq mi land, 100 sq mi with ocean | One city, large rural north |
| GTA VI (2026) | State of Leonida | Not announced | One city plus five named regions |
The structural read is the useful part. Leonida follows the GTA V template, one major metropolis surrounded by varied countryside, but with more distinct named regions than Blaine County ever had. Vice City’s return also marks the longest gap between visits to a GTA city, 24 years from the 2002 original, with only Vice City Stories in 2006 in between.
Interactive GTA 6 maps: what exists today

Several large gaming sites have already published “interactive GTA 6 map” pages. Every one of them is currently a placeholder or a fan reconstruction, because there are no in-game collectibles, mission markers or coordinates to plot yet. They exist to capture search traffic ahead of launch and will be populated once people can actually play.
When the game ships, expect the same tools GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 got within days: pannable maps layered with collectible locations, store positions, property purchases and stunt jumps. Until then, the most reliable “map” is the regional list on Rockstar’s own GTA VI site, which also serves non-English readers searching for the mapa de GTA 6, since Rockstar localises the page.
Agent's note
Trailer frames contain road signage, licence plates and shopfront text that fans have barely finished cataloguing. Pausing on the Trailer 2 highway shots shows directional signs naming destinations, which is how the mapping community pinned Port Gellhorn’s relative position before Rockstar listed it.
What it means
For you as a player, the practical takeaway is that the GTA 6 map is bigger in variety than in verified numbers. Six confirmed regions spanning city, islands, swamp, farmland, resort coast and forest tell you the world will have GTA V’s urban-to-rural spread with more distinct identities per area. That matters for how missions, vehicles and the economy will feel, more than any square mileage figure would.
For anyone weighing the “gta 6 price” and “gta 6 pre order” decisions, the map intel is a reminder that Rockstar is showing less than usual this far out. Two trailers and a website in two years is a slow drip by the company’s own standards, and the map will almost certainly stay unpublished until launch week. Do not let a convincing fan map or a confident YouTube number stand in for an official reveal.
For the series, Leonida is Rockstar’s first full state since San Andreas in 2004 and the first time a classic city has been rebuilt from scratch at modern fidelity rather than remastered. If the post-launch expansion reporting proves accurate, it would also be the first GTA map designed to grow after release, which would change how the next decade of GTA Online looks.
FAQ
Is there an official GTA 6 map yet?
No. Rockstar has confirmed the state of Leonida and six named regions on its official site, but it has not released a map image, an interactive map or any size figure. Every full map image currently circulating is fan-made or fake.
What are the confirmed GTA 6 map locations?
Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. All six were listed on rockstargames.com/VI following the May 2025 trailer. Specific confirmed landmarks include the Jack of Hearts club and Only Raw Records in Vice City.
How big is the GTA 6 map compared to GTA 5?
Not announced. Community reconstructions estimate it is larger than GTA 5’s roughly 49 square miles of land, but no figure has come from Rockstar or Take-Two, and claims of “twice the size” are unsourced.
Will the GTA 6 map expand after launch?
That is a rumor from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier and Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, reporting in 2021 and 2022 respectively that Rockstar planned to add regions over time. Nothing official has confirmed it since.
Is Leonida just Florida?
Leonida is a fictional state modelled on Florida, much as San Andreas was modelled on California. Vice City maps to Miami, the Keys to the Florida Keys and Grassrivers to the Everglades, while Mount Kalaga takes clear liberties with Florida’s famously flat terrain.
