GTA 6 launch trailer swaps licensed songs for original music by Justice

CONFIRMED

Rockstar Games has published the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer, dated October 15, 2026 on both its official trailer page and the Rockstar Newswire. Rockstar says the trailer debuts “Flower in a Hurricane” by Justice, the game’s original score composers, with Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. It lands five weeks ahead of the confirmed November 19, 2026 release.

What we know

Rockstar’s official trailer page lists the Launch Trailer with an October 15, 2026 date, and the Rockstar Newswire carries a matching “Watch the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer” post. The trailer page credits the music as the debut of “Flower in a Hurricane” by Justice, joined by Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

That is a break in pattern. According to gHacks, Trailer 1 used a licensed Tom Petty song and Trailer 2 used “Hot Together” by The Pointer Sisters. This time the headline track comes from the people scoring the game.

Rockstar’s official YouTube description says the game is developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games, and opens with a line familiar to anyone who has been tracking this file: “Welcome to Vice City.”

GameSpot reports that the trailer was captured on a base PS5 and carries PlayStation branding, consistent with the Sony marketing partnership. GameSpot also reports the game launches November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, which matches the official platform list.

The date itself has held since November 6, 2025, when Rockstar announced via the Newswire that the game would release on Thursday, November 19, 2026, describing the “sprawling state of Leonida” and a return to modern day Vice City. That announcement was the second delay, following the earlier move to May 26, 2026.

The launch trailer caps a busy stretch. Rockstar’s trailer page lists a 26:48 video, “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look,” from August 27, 2026, and the Newswire posted “Grand Theft Auto VI Collection Now at the Rockstar Store” on October 8.

Rockstar’s official descriptions do not break down which scenes, characters or locations are new to this trailer, so we will not catalogue them here.

Rockstar has not said how “Flower in a Hurricane” is used in the game itself, or whether the other credited artists appear on in-game radio.

GameSpot’s report covers base PS5 capture only. Rockstar has not published comparable notes on PS5 Pro or Xbox Series X|S performance.

No PC version has been announced.

GamesBeat claims, citing four anonymous industry sources, that Rockstar plans to bring GTA 6 to PC in Q1 2027, January through March, a few months after the console launch. The October 13, 2026 report was relayed by Vice, Tom’s Hardware, TechRadar and Slashdot. Rockstar did not respond to GamesBeat’s request for comment.

GamesBeat is an established outlet, but this report rests entirely on unnamed sources and we grade it D. Treat it as a rumor until Rockstar or Take-Two says otherwise. The official platform list remains PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Happy Gamer reported that the official launch trailer “went live on Friday, October 23.” It did not. Rockstar’s trailer page and Newswire both date it to October 15, 2026.

Headlines around October 23 and 24, such as “Trailer Just Dropped” and “The Wait is Over: GTA 6 Trailer Finally Released!”, implied a fresh release. The trailer had been public for about nine days by then. That coverage appears to reflect later promotion of the existing trailer, including on Xbox Wire, rather than new footage. We could not independently verify the Xbox Wire post’s date.

What it means

The music switch is the clearest signal. Leading the final pre-launch trailer with an original Justice track, rather than a licensed classic, puts the game’s own score front and center for the first time.

GameSpot’s base PS5 report gives a baseline for what standard console owners can expect visually, with the caveat that marketing footage and retail performance are not always the same thing.

On timing, Rockstar’s sources agree: October 15 for the trailer, November 19 for the game. Anything claiming otherwise is either recycled promotion or rumor. We will update this file if Rockstar or Take-Two addresses PC.
