GTA 6 launch trailer shows Jason and Lucia heists, chases and Vice City

CONFIRMED

Rockstar Games posted the official Grand Theft Auto VI launch trailer on October 15, 2026, with no prior teasing, according to Kotaku. The footage shows Jason and Lucia pulling bank heists, running from police and sharing a shower, and Rockstar’s own caption reconfirms the November 19 release date. GameSpot reports the launch is set for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

What we know

Kotaku reports that Rockstar dropped the trailer online on October 15, 2026 with no countdown, no teaser image and no advance warning. That is about 35 days ahead of the November 19 release date, which the trailer caption restates.

Insider Gaming, quoting Rockstar’s trailer announcement, reports the footage includes bank heists, police chases, and Jason and Lucia in the shower together. Rockstar’s caption states the trailer was captured entirely in-game on a PlayStation 5.

GameSpot reports the trailer shows more of Vice City than previous material, alongside the shower scene with the two leads. GameSpot also reports the November 19 launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The music is new. Kotaku reports the trailer is scored by “Flower in a Hurricane,” a track from Justice, who are composing the game’s score, featuring Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Per Kotaku, Rockstar confirmed the song will appear on the official soundtrack release.

For context, Rockstar’s own trailer description frames the story as Jason and Lucia facing a criminal conspiracy across Leonida after an easy score goes wrong. That line has been quoted by several outlets, including RockstarINTEL.

This is the third trailer for the game. Trailer 1 arrived on December 4, 2023, moved up a day after a leak, with Rockstar’s Newswire post dated December 5, 2023, and it established Leonida and Vice City as the setting. Trailer 2 followed on May 6, 2025. Commentators at Insider Gaming and RockstarINTEL are calling this release “Trailer 3” and the likely final trailer before launch. That is commentary, not an official Rockstar label.

The road here was not smooth. GTA 6 was originally announced for 2025, slipped to May 26, 2026, and then to November 19, 2026, per Tom’s Guide’s tracking of the delays.

ComicBook.com reports a “leak” claiming physical launch copies may include a physical collector’s map, even though the game reportedly ships without a physical disc. The report names no source, and the origin of the claim is not identified. It has nothing to do with the trailer itself. Treat it as unverified until Rockstar or a retailer says otherwise.

What we don’t know yet

The trailer’s exact runtime is not officially stated. The Shortcut headlined it as “almost two minutes of fresh gameplay footage,” but ComicBook.com, LADbible and RockstarINTEL all put the total length at about 90 seconds, and ComicBook.com describes it as mostly cinematic with little gameplay. Those outlets are outside our top-tier source list, so the runtime is likely but not fully confirmed. Either way, the “two minutes of gameplay” framing does not hold up.

A PC release is not confirmed. Until Rockstar says it, it stays in this column.

Rockstar has not detailed how much of the heist and chase footage represents playable systems versus scripted sequences. The caption says in-game capture on PS5, which covers the rendering, not the gameplay structure.

Nothing in the trailer or the accompanying caption addresses pricing, editions or preorder bonuses.

What it means

The important signal is the date. Rockstar put November 19 in its own caption, 35 days out, after two prior delays. A publisher does not restate a release date in a launch trailer unless it intends to hit it.

The surprise drop also fits a pattern. Rockstar has avoided telegraphing its marketing beats for this game, and Kotaku’s report confirms the trailer arrived without warning. Expect the remaining weeks to follow the same approach: little or no advance notice, then a hard cut to the asset.

For the story, the confirmed beats are narrow but telling. Bank heists, police pursuits and the Jason and Lucia relationship are front and center, matching Rockstar’s own description of a conspiracy triggered by a job gone wrong. The Vice City footage reinforces the setting Rockstar established in 2023.

The soundtrack detail is the one fully new piece of hard information. Justice composing the score, with a lead single featuring SZA, Tame Impala and King Gizzard, is confirmed by Rockstar per Kotaku, and it suggests the music push will run alongside the game launch.

Everything else, from the collector’s map to the PC window, remains unconfirmed. This desk will update when Rockstar, a retailer or a top-tier outlet does.

His beat is everything attached to the next game: release windows, launch details, official trailers, platform plans and the steady drip of leaks that fills the gap between Rockstar announcements. He treats every claim as a question of sourcing first. A Take-Two earnings call or a Rockstar Newswire post gets reported as fact. A datamine or a tipster with a mixed record gets labeled as such. When a story shifts, he updates the piece and says what changed rather than quietly rewriting it. Readers should always be able to tell what is confirmed and what is still talk.
