Rumor: Rockstar filming live-action GTA 6 promo on closed Miami streets
RUMOR
Fan videos from Miami show a police-closed street, a convoy of cars wearing Vice City plates, and a camera car with a drone overhead. Fans have concluded that Rockstar is shooting a live-action GTA 6 trailer or ad. Rockstar has not confirmed any shoot, and its Newswire lists nothing of the kind.
What we know
Rockstar confirmed its most recent piece of GTA VI marketing on October 15, 2026, when it published the official Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer. The trailer debuted “Flower in a Hurricane” by the score composers Justice. The Rockstar Newswire lists the same trailer under that date.
The Newswire’s other recent GTA VI posts cover the Rockstar Store collection on October 8 and the Vice City Collection pre-order on September 24. None of them mentions a live-action trailer or a film shoot in Miami.
Rockstar’s official trailer list shows four entries: Trailer 1 (December 4, 2023), Trailer 2 (May 6, 2025), An Extended Look (August 27, 2026) and the Launch Trailer. GTA BOOM says every main GTA trailer, GTA 6 included, has used in-game footage. 9to5Toys reports the Launch Trailer was “captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5”.
On timing, TechTimes’s reading of Take-Two’s fiscal 2026 earnings report, released May 21, 2026, puts the GTA VI launch on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with no PC date listed.
TweakTown, Beebom, Unboxholics and TalkEsport all report that Rockstar has not confirmed the Miami shoot or its purpose. We found no statement from Rockstar, Take-Two or the Newswire.
What is rumored

The story starts with videos posted on October 20 and 21 by X users videotech and FairlyGab, relayed by Notebookcheck and TweakTown. The clips reportedly show supercars and vintage cars with Vice City plates on a police-closed street near Bayside Marketplace, led by a black car carrying a large mounted camera while a drone films from above. The footage is real and widely shared. The reading of it as a GTA 6 trailer shoot is fan speculation, and neither account has a verified track record.
Beebom and TalkEsport, aggregating fan footage, report sightings near Bayside Marketplace, Ocean Drive and Key Biscayne. They say the cars included a Corvette dressed as the in-game Coquette and a Lamborghini in Vice Beach Police colors. The vehicles are visible in fan videos, but nobody has independently verified who is running the shoot.
The fan account GTA 6 Countdown claims Rockstar is filming a promo video featuring the new cars, “possibly a live-action trailer.” The account hedges its own claim and has no verified insider access.
GTA 6 Raf (@GTAVI_Rodion), a fan tracker with no verified track record, posted on October 20 that filming of a separate GTA VI video or trailer continues in Miami, as reported by 7MMO and Unboxholics. Some fans also believe Rockstar released the Launch Trailer early to make room for a real-life video before launch. That theory has no named source.
One unnamed social post claims Rockstar was in Key Biscayne with custom car shop West Coast Customs. TalkEsport says it could not verify this and treats it as a rumor.
What we don’t know yet

Who is behind the shoot. No outlet has tied the crew to Rockstar through an official source.
What is being made. The footage is consistent with a car commercial or promo shoot, but it does not show whether the result is a trailer, a hybrid promo, social content or something else entirely.
When, or whether, any of it will be released.
What it means

If Rockstar does release a live-action official trailer, it would be a first. By GTA BOOM’s account, the company’s main trailers have always been in-game.
A Miami shoot would fit the city-focused campaign already running. Rockstar’s local marketing has included Vice City ads, a plane flying over Florida and a Miami Heat collaboration event billed as “A Night in Vice City.”
Expect older material to resurface as “proof.” The live-action Trevor Philips sketch “GTA VR” from 2016 was a Corridor Digital production, not Rockstar work.
The Launch Trailer arrived about four weeks before the November 19 launch, so any further marketing has a short window. Until Rockstar or the Newswire says otherwise, the Miami convoy remains real footage with an unconfirmed purpose.
