GTA 6 purchase intent hits 29%, highest Circana has ever measured for a game
CONFIRMED
GameSpot reports that new Circana data shows 29% of US console and PC gamers plan to buy GTA VI, the highest purchase intent Circana has ever measured for any game. The figure arrives about three weeks before the November 19, 2026 launch, a date Take-Two has confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
What we know
According to GameSpot, Circana’s latest data puts GTA VI purchase intent at 29% among US console and PC gamers. Circana has never recorded a higher number for a game. The figure comes from PlayerPulse, Circana’s tracking program, and the release is dated October 28, 2026.
The date is locked, per the publisher. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick reaffirmed on an earnings call that GTA VI launches November 19, 2026, as reported by Insider Gaming and Tech Times. Take-Two’s May 21, 2026 report lists that date for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. In the same report, Take-Two guided fiscal 2027 net bookings of $8B to $8.2B.
The road here included two delays. On May 2, 2025, Rockstar moved the game from fall 2025 to May 26, 2026. On November 6, 2025, it moved again to November 19, 2026. A 4chan post claiming a further slip to February 2027 circulated before the May 2026 call. Zelnick’s reaffirmation contradicted it, according to Tech Times and others.
What we don’t know yet

The 29% is stated intent, not confirmed preorders or sales, as GTAVice’s summary of the Circana release makes clear. Survey answers and checkout behavior are different animals.
Per Bestgamesworld, the announcement did not include sample size or survey methodology. That has not been independently verified, but it means the number cannot yet be checked against its own margin of error.
Circana’s release also does not supply the previous record holder or its score. Without that, we cannot say by how much GTA VI cleared the old high, or which past launch set it. The only comparison on file is Circana’s own: no game it has measured has scored higher.
There is no PC release date.
What is rumored

Sensor Tower projects 25 million preorders and about $2B in revenue by launch. Treat these as third-party analytics estimates. They are not Rockstar or Take-Two data, and the publisher has not verified them.
GameSpot’s Circana article also states that a PC edition is expected in early 2027. That expectation carries no attribution, and we grade it D. The same article notes the game is confirmed only for consoles so far, and Take-Two has not announced a PC date. File it as unsourced until someone puts a name to it.
What it means

The size question has two partial answers. Circana says intent is at a record. Sensor Tower, if its model holds, projects that intent will convert into millions of preorders. Neither is a sales figure, and the first real numbers will have to come from Take-Two after launch.
The comparison with past record launches is thinner than the headline suggests. Circana confirms GTA VI tops every game it has tracked on this metric, but the release does not name the runner-up, so a clean side-by-side with earlier blockbusters is not possible from this data.
Take-Two’s own guidance of $8B to $8.2B in fiscal 2027 net bookings is the publisher’s clearest signal of how much it expects from the year GTA VI launches. A 29% intent reading among US console and PC players gives that guidance some cover.
One structural gap remains. Circana surveyed PC gamers too, and the game is confirmed only for console. Some of that 29% is waiting on a platform with no announced date.
Launch is November 19. The survey phase is nearly over.
