Gunrunning and Bunker guide for GTA Online
Gunrunning is the GTA Online business where you buy a Bunker, feed it supplies and sell the weapons it manufactures. A fully upgraded Bunker with full stock sells for $1,050,000 in Los Santos. That makes it one of the best passive money makers in the game, and it is available in every current version of GTA Online.
How Gunrunning works
Rockstar added the business in the Gunrunning update on June 13, 2017. You buy a Bunker from the Maze Bank Foreclosures website on your in-game phone or computer. Agent 14 is your contact, and he walks you through a short setup mission. After that, the loop is simple.
- Get supplies, either by stealing them or by paying for them.
- Staff turn supplies into stock, or into research, or both.
- Sell the stock across Blaine County or Los Santos.
You need to register as a CEO, VIP or Motorcycle Club President before you can start resupply or sell missions. A SecuroServ Office is not required. Registering as a VIP from the Interaction Menu is enough.
Quick steps: start Gunrunning
- Open Maze Bank Foreclosures and buy a Bunker.
- Buy the Equipment and Staff upgrades during purchase if you can afford them.
- Complete Agent 14’s setup mission.
- Register as CEO, VIP or MC President.
- Buy supplies from the laptop inside the Bunker for GTA$75,000.
- Set staff to Manufacturing Only and let stock build.
- Sell from the laptop when stock is high, choosing Los Santos for the bonus.
Choosing a Bunker location

Rockstar sells 11 Bunkers spread across Blaine County and the west coast. Location matters for one reason: travel time on resupply and sell missions. Production and stock value are identical everywhere.
Chumash, on the coast north of Los Santos, is the standard choice. It sits close to the city, which shortens the drive on Los Santos sales. Farmhouse in central Blaine County is a solid alternative, since it reaches both regions easily. Avoid the far northern Bunkers if you plan to sell to Los Santos often.
Discounts on Bunkers come up regularly in Rockstar’s weekly events. Check before paying full price.
Upgrades and what they are worth
| Upgrade | Cost (GTA$) | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Equipment | 1,155,000 | Faster production, higher stock value |
| Staff | 598,500 | Faster production, higher stock value |
| Security | 351,000 | Fewer raids, more defensive equipment |
Equipment and Staff are not optional if you want the $1,050,000 payout. Both raise stock value and speed, so they pay for themselves within a few full sales. Security is the one you can skip early. It cuts raids, which is nice, but it adds no money.
Agent's note
Set staff to Manufacturing Only once you have the research unlocks you want. Splitting staff between research and manufacturing slows both, and most players never return to switch it back.
Supplies: steal or buy?

Buying supplies costs GTA$75,000 for a full bar, delivered instantly. Stealing them is free but costs you a mission each time. With a fully upgraded Bunker, the stock produced from each bar sells for far more than GTA$75,000. Buy supplies. Your time is better spent on heist money, which pays far more per hour than any resupply run. The Cayo Perico heist is the obvious example, and the Bunker keeps producing in the background while you run it.
Selling stock
Open the laptop and choose a sell destination. Blaine County sales are close and quick. Los Santos sales pay 50% more, which turns $700,000 of full stock into $1,050,000.
The number of delivery vehicles grows as stock rises. Larger loads can mean several vehicles spread over a single mission, which is hard to finish alone. You have two choices: bring friends from your crew, or sell more often with smaller loads you can handle solo. Sell in an invite-only session where possible, since public lobbies attract griefers looking for an easy kill on your cargo.
Heads up
There are no cheat codes in GTA Online, and no button combinations on PlayStation, Xbox or PC that add money. Third-party money tools risk a ban and a wiped account, so stick to legitimate sales.
Research and the Mobile Operations Center
Research unlocks weapon upgrades, vehicle add-ons and Mk II ammunition types. You can only modify weaponised vehicles and Mk II weapons inside the Mobile Operations Center (MOC), which you buy separately from Warstock. You can keep your Bunker running without the MOC, but you’ll miss a large part of the update’s content.
The Bunker also links to the Nightclub. A technician assigned to Sporting Goods converts Bunker activity into extra Nightclub stock, a second income stream with no extra effort.
The Gunrunner Career Builder
New players on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC Enhanced get a Career Builder with GTA$4,000,000 to spend. Gunrunner is one of the four paths, alongside Executive, Nightclub Owner and Biker. Pick Gunrunner and you start with a Bunker and an armed vehicle, skipping the early grind. If you are still deciding whether GTA Shark Cards are worth it, the Career Builder is the free head start to use first.
What the word means outside the game
In the dictionary, gunrunning is a noun meaning the illegal smuggling of firearms. A gunrunner is the person doing it. Rockstar borrowed the word directly, and the business follows the real-world idea closely: buy, build and move weapons without getting caught.
FAQ
Is Gunrunning still worth it?
Yes. A fully upgraded Bunker is one of the best passive businesses in GTA Online. It produces stock while you play other content and pays $1,050,000 per full Los Santos sale.
Which Bunker should I buy?
Chumash, for its short drive to Los Santos. Farmhouse is a close second.
Do I need an Office to run a Bunker?
No. You only need to register as a CEO, VIP or MC President, and VIP status is free.
Can I sell Bunker stock solo?
Yes, but large loads spawn multiple vehicles. Sell smaller loads alone, or bring friends for full stock.
Does Gunrunning work the same on PS4 and PS5?
Yes. Prices, payouts and upgrades match across every version, including PC Legacy and PC Enhanced. Only the Career Builder is exclusive to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC Enhanced.
