Has It Leaked claims Daft Punk rejected a GTA 6 offer before Justice scored it
RUMOR
Music leak account Has It Leaked claims Rockstar Games tried to bring Daft Punk back for Grand Theft Auto VI with “essentially an unlimited budget,” and that the duo said no. Rockstar has confirmed only that French electronic duo Justice composed the game’s original score. As of October 20, no one official has backed the Daft Punk story.
What we know
On October 15, 2026, Rockstar confirmed via its Newswire the release of the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer. The trailer carries new music from Justice, whom Rockstar names as composers of the game’s original score. The single is “Flower in a Hurricane” featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.
Rockstar’s official X account repeated the credit the same day, calling Justice the “original score composers” and confirming GTA VI arrives November 19. The launch trailer page on Rockstar’s site uses the same credit. Per Rockstar’s X post and Console Creatures, the game lands on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Video Games Chronicle reports that Rockstar also confirmed “Flower in a Hurricane” will appear on Grand Theft Auto 6: The Album, the official soundtrack. NME and Vice report the album is a 34-track collection of original music, open for pre-save, with a November 19 release.
Daft Punk announced their split in February 2021, according to Sunday Guardian Live. EGW News notes they marked it with the “Epilogue” video.
What is rumored

On October 19, 2026, the X account Has It Leaked claimed Rockstar pitched Daft Punk’s management a “final comeback” of the duo for the GTA VI soundtrack, offering “essentially an unlimited budget.” According to the post, Daft Punk declined and Justice were Rockstar’s second choice.
We grade this D. It is a single-source social post. Has It Leaked says it has broken Daft Punk and Justice news for years, and Dexerto, Gfinity and TecStudio describe its record on music leaks as decent. Dexerto, Metro, GTA BOOM, Gfinity, Instant Gaming News and others repeated the claim. Repetition is not corroboration. We found no confirmation from Rockstar, Daft Punk’s representatives or a major outlet.
A second claim, from EGW News, says the duo turned the offer down because they had no interest in returning as Daft Punk. EGW News attributes this to French music journalist Romain Figueira. We could not locate the original Figueira report, and other outlets credit the story only to Has It Leaked. We grade it D and treat the attribution as unreliable.
What we don’t know yet

Whether any offer was made at all. Sunday Guardian Live reports that, as of October 20, neither Rockstar nor Daft Punk’s representatives have verified the claim. GTA BOOM says no one official has confirmed it either.
When the score album arrives. Rockstar’s October 15 Newswire post, as summarized by mypandaplay.com, said more information on GTA VI’s music would follow, including an official score album. No date has been given.
Whether a Daft Punk member is on the soundtrack anyway. GTA BOOM and Techno Airlines report that Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo is credited as producer on Travis Scott’s “RHYNO” from The Album. We have not verified this against a Rockstar source. Treat it as unconfirmed.
What it means

The confirmed part is simple. Justice scored GTA VI, and Rockstar has said so on its Newswire, its X account and its launch trailer page. The “second choice” framing rests on one grade D post and has not been verified by anyone with direct knowledge.
The story travels well because it fits a neat narrative: two French electronic duos, one retired, one hired. A neat narrative is not evidence. Daft Punk ended the project in 2021, and a declined pitch would leave no public paper trail unless someone involved chooses to speak.
Until Rockstar, Justice or Daft Punk’s camp comments, file this as unverified chatter. The score album, whenever Rockstar dates it, is the next confirmed music intel to watch.
