GTA 6 weapons confirmed so far
Rockstar has not published a GTA 6 weapons list. What exists is a set of guns visible in the official trailers and screenshots, which fan analysts have matched to 14 real-world firearms, from a Beretta 92FS to an AR-15. This briefing separates what Rockstar has actually shown from what the community has inferred, and grades every claim.
Last checked: against the Rockstar Newswire, the official Grand Theft Auto VI site and Take-Two’s investor communications for this revision. This page is updated as launch details land, including any gameplay reveal that names the arsenal.
What we know
Start with the hard facts, because there are fewer of them than most weapons lists imply. Rockstar has shown guns. It has not named a single one, published stats, or confirmed how weapons are bought, carried or modified.
Everything officially visible comes from a short list of releases. Here is the full timeline of Rockstar material that matters for weapon spotting.
| Date | Release | Source grade | Relevance to weapons |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 Feb 2022 | Rockstar confirms the next Grand Theft Auto is in active development | Official | No footage |
| 18–19 Sep 2022 | Development footage leaks; Rockstar confirms the network intrusion the next day | Official confirmation of the breach; footage is early and unfinished | Shows weapon use in a dev build; not representative of final content |
| 4 Dec 2023 | Trailer 1 posted, a day ahead of schedule after it leaked | Official | First official look at Lucia, Jason and handguns in a robbery |
| 2 May 2025 | Release moved to 26 May 2026 | Official | No footage |
| 6 May 2025 | Trailer 2, plus character and location pages and a large batch of screenshots | Official | The main source for most community gun IDs |
| 6 Nov 2025 | Release moved to 19 November 2026 | Official | No footage |
Two things stand out. First, every frame fans are working from is either a trailer or a screenshot. Second, Rockstar has not yet released a dedicated gameplay video, which is historically where it shows its weapon systems.
What the footage actually establishes
Trailer 1 includes a sequence of Jason and Lucia holding up a convenience store with handguns drawn. That alone confirms the basics: both protagonists use firearms, and armed robbery is part of the fiction from the first trailer onward.
Trailer 2 widened the picture. Rockstar said it was captured in-game on a PlayStation 5, split evenly between gameplay and cutscenes. That matters for weapon spotting, because guns in gameplay segments are more likely to reflect actual in-game assets than props built for a single cinematic.
The screenshots that went live alongside Trailer 2 gave analysts clean, high-resolution stills with no motion blur. Most confident IDs on fan wikis trace back to those images rather than to trailer frames.
If you want the people holding these guns in context, our “gta 6 jason and lucia” briefing covers everything confirmed about the two leads.
What Rockstar has not said
Treat each of these as Not announced until Rockstar says otherwise:
- The total number of weapons in the game.
- In-game names or manufacturers for any gun.
- Whether attachments, tints or upgrades exist.
- Whether Ammu-Nation returns as the gun store.
- How many weapons you can carry, and whether a weapon wheel is used.
- Any melee weapons, explosives or throwables beyond what is visible on screen.
Any site giving you a number of “confirmed weapons” is counting community identifications. That is useful work, but it is not confirmation.
The 14 guns fans have identified

The list below is the set of real-world firearms that fan wikis and gun-identification communities have matched to guns in Rockstar’s official material. The presence of a gun in the footage is confirmed. The exact real-world model is community-grade: generally careful work, but fallible, and Rockstar may give each one a fictional name and design.

Note the shape of the list. It is pistol-heavy, which fits a game built around robberies and street crime in a Florida parody. There is no confirmed sniper rifle, machine gun or launcher in official material.
Pistols
Pistols dominate the sightings for an obvious reason. The trailers lean on close-quarters crime: hold-ups, car scenes, confrontations. Small guns are what you would expect in those shots.
Beretta 92FS
The Beretta 92FS is the classic Italian 9mm service pistol, known for its open-top slide that leaves much of the barrel exposed. That cutaway slide is one of the easiest features to read in a still frame, which is why it shows up on almost every fan list.
Series history makes this one feel inevitable. Beretta-style pistols have been a GTA staple for years, and the base pistol slot in modern Rockstar games has long carried that full-size 9mm silhouette.
Status: RUMOR. The gun shape is visible in official material; the Beretta identification is community-grade.
Taurus PT92AF
This entry exists because of a genuine identification problem, and it is worth understanding. The Taurus PT92 was produced in Brazil using Beretta tooling and know-how, so it looks almost identical to a 92FS.
The giveaway is the safety. On a Beretta 92FS the safety and decocker sit on the slide. On the Taurus PT92AF the safety is mounted on the frame, just above the grip.
When a frame is sharp enough to show that detail, analysts can call it. When it is not, you get two candidates, and some lists keep both. Treat the pair as “one Beretta-pattern pistol, exact model unclear” unless you see the frame-mounted lever yourself.
Status: RUMOR. Community ID, and partly overlapping with the Beretta entry.
Bersa Firestorm 380
The Firestorm is a compact Argentine pistol chambered in .380 ACP. Its profile echoes the Walther PPK: short slide, small frame, built for concealed carry rather than duty use.
A pocket pistol fits Leonida well. It is the kind of gun that suits a smash-and-grab or a glovebox, and a smaller sidearm would give Rockstar a reason to differentiate concealment or handling in gameplay. That last part is our analysis, not anything Rockstar has said.
Status: RUMOR. Community ID.
Glock 17 / SIG Sauer P320 variant
This is the most disputed pistol on the list. Fans agree it is a polymer-framed, striker-fired 9mm. They do not agree on the brand.
At trailer distance, a Glock 17 and a SIG Sauer P320 variant share a lot: blocky slide, polymer frame, no external hammer. The tells are subtle. Glocks have a flatter, slab-sided slide and a distinctive trigger safety blade, while P320s have different slide serrations and a more contoured frame.
Without a clear close-up, lists hedge with a slash, and you should read it that way. One modern striker pistol is visible. Its real-world parent is unresolved.
Status: RUMOR. Disputed community ID.
M1911 variant
The 1911 is the most cloned handgun design in history, so “variant” is the honest label. Dozens of manufacturers build 1911-pattern pistols in .45 ACP and other calibres, and many look identical in a still.
The 1911 has deep roots in the series. Vice City’s own era was steeped in it, and Rockstar has repeatedly used 1911-style silhouettes for heavier-hitting sidearms.
Status: RUMOR. Community ID at the pattern level, not a specific manufacturer.
Steyr SPP
The Steyr SPP (Special Purpose Pistol) is the semi-automatic civilian version of the Steyr TMP machine pistol. The design was later sold to Brügger & Thomet, which developed it into the B&T TP9 and MP9.
Its boxy, futuristic shape is hard to mistake. In a GTA context, a gun from this family usually ends up in the “machine pistol” slot, the kind of compact automatic you can fire from a car window. Whether GTA 6 treats it as full-auto or semi-auto is Not announced.
Status: RUMOR. Community ID.
Revolvers
Revolvers are the easiest category to spot, because the cylinder is visible from almost any angle. Telling them apart is harder.
Colt Python
The Colt Python is the .357 Magnum revolver with the ventilated rib along the top of the barrel and a full-length underlug beneath it. Those two features give it a heavy, slab-sided silhouette that collectors can spot instantly.
There is a neat series echo here. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002) had a revolver literally named “Python” in its arsenal. A Python-style revolver turning up in the return to Vice City is either a nod or a coincidence, and Rockstar rarely does coincidences with this much history attached.
Status: RUMOR. Community ID. The Vice City connection is our observation, not a Rockstar statement.
Smith & Wesson Model 29
The Model 29 is the .44 Magnum made famous by Dirty Harry. It is a big-frame revolver with a long barrel and a blued carbon-steel finish.
In GTA terms, a .44 Magnum revolver maps naturally onto a “heavy revolver” role: slow, loud, powerful. That role already exists in GTA Online, so the archetype is familiar to Rockstar’s weapon designers.
Status: RUMOR. Community ID.
Smith & Wesson Model 629 Classic
The 629 is essentially the stainless-steel sibling of the Model 29, also in .44 Magnum. The Classic adds a full-length underlug, which makes the barrel look heavier.
Why list both? Because finish is the main way to tell them apart. A blued gun in one frame and a bright stainless gun in another can point to two separate models, or to the same in-game revolver under different lighting. Rockstar’s habit of offering weapon tints in GTA Online adds another layer of doubt.
Status: RUMOR. Community ID; possibly overlapping with the Model 29 entry.
Agent's note
When two near-identical guns appear on a fan list (Beretta and Taurus, Model 29 and 629), assume one in-game weapon until Rockstar shows otherwise. Lighting, tints and frame compression create “new” guns all the time.
Submachine guns
Two SMGs appear on the community list, and they cover the old and the new of the category.
B&T APC9 K PRO
The APC9 K is a compact 9mm submachine gun from Swiss maker Brügger & Thomet. A version of it was selected by the US Army for its Sub Compact Weapon program in 2019, which tells you how current this design is.
Its presence matters for one reason: it signals that GTA 6’s arsenal is drawing on present-day hardware, as you would expect from a game set in a modern Florida parody. A 2002 Vice City game reached for Uzis and Tec-9s. A 2026 Leonida reaches for a compact modular PDW.
Status: RUMOR. Community ID.
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
The MP5 is the most recognisable submachine gun ever made. The A3 suffix specifically means the version with a retractable sliding stock, as opposed to the fixed stock of the A2.
The MP5 has appeared in GTA games for over two decades. Vice City included an “MP5” by name, and GTA V’s standard SMG wore a clear MP5 silhouette. Its return would be the least surprising entry on this list.
Status: RUMOR. Community ID.
Shotguns
Double-barreled shotgun
A side-by-side double-barrel is about as generic as firearms get, which is why fan lists don’t attach a brand to it. It reads instantly on screen: two barrels, break action, often a short or cut-down profile in crime fiction.
GTA Online added a Double Barrel Shotgun years into its life, and earlier games leaned on sawn-off variants. In a rural Leonida setting, with swamps and small towns in the mix, a double-barrel also suits the backcountry characters Rockstar has shown.
Status: RUMOR. Community ID at the type level.
Remington Model 870
The 870 is a pump-action shotgun and one of the best-selling shotguns ever produced. For decades it has been a standard American police long gun, which makes it a natural fit for both law enforcement and civilians in a Florida parody.
Pump shotguns have been a fixture of the series since its 3D era. Expect this one to fill the familiar “pump shotgun” slot if it ships.
Status: RUMOR. Community ID.
Rifles
AR-15 variant
As with the 1911, “variant” is the only honest label. The AR-15 platform is built by a huge number of manufacturers in countless configurations, and a frame rarely tells you whose rifle you’re looking at.
Rockstar has used the AR-15 pattern for years. GTA V’s Carbine Rifle was plainly AR-based, and the platform is unavoidable in any contemporary American crime story. It is the only confirmed rifle-class sighting on the community list.
Status: RUMOR. Community ID at the platform level.
What is rumored
Beyond the community model IDs above, a handful of claims circulate about how weapons will work. Here is each one with its source and our credibility call.
The 2022 leak showed weapon handling in a development build
Source: roughly 90 development clips posted in September 2022. Rockstar confirmed a network intrusion and the theft of early development footage the following day, and Take-Two also acknowledged it.
What reputable outlets reported: coverage at the time described gunfights, a robbery sequence with the female lead, and an on-screen HUD that included weapon handling and a weapon selection interface. Reporting from outlets including Bloomberg and Kotaku stressed that the footage came from an early, unfinished build.
Our call: authentic but dated. Rockstar’s statement confirms the footage was theirs. It does not confirm that anything in it reflects the final game. Systems in a build that old routinely change before launch.
We don’t link to, host or describe how to find that material, and you shouldn’t go looking. Files labelled as leak footage or “beta builds” are a common malware vector.
Limited carry, with extra weapons stored elsewhere
Source: community interpretation of the 2022 leaked clips, combined with Red Dead Redemption 2 precedent.
The claim: instead of carrying an unlimited arsenal in your pocket as in GTA V, you carry a limited loadout on your body and store the rest, for example in a vehicle.
Our call: community-grade inference. The RDR2 precedent is real. Arthur Morgan carried sidearms and a limited number of long guns on his person, with the rest stowed on his horse. Applying that logic to cars in Leonida is a reasonable guess. Rockstar has not confirmed it, and nothing in the official trailers demonstrates it.
Weapon degradation and cleaning
Source: extrapolation from Red Dead Redemption 2, where guns grew dirty and needed cleaning to stay effective.
Our call: no credible source for GTA 6. This is a wish-list item, not a rumor with a sourcing chain. RDR2’s cleaning mechanic suited a frontier survival game; it is far from certain Rockstar wants the same friction in a fast modern crime game.
Real gun brands licensed in-game
Source: none credible. This idea mostly comes from fans seeing real-world guns in the footage and assuming real names will follow.
Our call: unlikely, on precedent. GTA V and GTA Online use fictional names (Pistol, Combat Pistol, Carbine Rifle, Pump Shotgun) and fictional manufacturers like Vom Feuer, Hawk & Little and Shrewsbury. Expect GTA 6 to follow the same parody approach. Status: Not announced.
“Full weapons lists” with stats
Source: social media posts and video thumbnails, typically with no named origin.
Our call: treat any list claiming in-game names, damage values or a total count as fabricated until Rockstar publishes it. No proven reporter has published a GTA 6 weapon roster, and none of Rockstar’s official material includes stats.
Heads up
Sites offering “GTA 6 weapon mods,” early builds or leaked footage downloads are a malware risk. Nothing legitimate for GTA 6 exists to download until the game is out on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
How fans identify guns from trailer frames

This part of the story gets less attention than it deserves. The 14 IDs above are the product of slow, careful frame work, and knowing the method helps you judge how much to trust each one.
What analysts look for
- Slide and frame shape. Open-top slide means Beretta-pattern. Boxy polymer means striker-fired.
- Controls. Safety location, decocker, magazine release and trigger shape separate near-identical guns.
- Cylinder and barrel. Ribs, underlugs and barrel length split revolvers into families.
- Finish. Blued versus stainless can mean separate models, or just lighting.
- Furniture. Stocks, handguards and optics narrow rifles and SMGs.
Where it goes wrong
Video compression smears fine detail. Motion blur hides controls. Rockstar artists also tweak real designs, blending features from two guns so no brand matches exactly.
That’s why we grade these IDs as RUMOR rather than CONFIRMED, even when the work is excellent. The same method powers the community’s “gta 6 mapping” project, which rebuilds Leonida from trailer frames, and our “gta 6 cars” tracker, which faces the same trouble with blended real-world car designs.
A rule of thumb for reading any list
| Label on a fan list | What it really means | How much to trust it |
|---|---|---|
| Specific model (e.g. “Colt Python”) | Distinctive features clearly visible | High for the shape; final in-game model may differ |
| “Variant” (e.g. “AR-15 variant”) | Platform clear, manufacturer not | High for platform, low for brand |
| Slash (e.g. “Glock 17 / P320”) | Analysts disagree | Medium; one gun, uncertain parent |
| Paired near-duplicates (Beretta + Taurus) | Possibly the same in-game weapon | Treat as one until proven |
| Count or stats | Not from footage at all | Do not trust until Rockstar confirms |
Vice City then and now: the arsenal angle

GTA 6 returns to Vice City for the first time as a full modern setting, so comparing the 2002 arsenal with the community IDs is a useful lens. Vice City’s names below are the in-game names from that game.
| Category | Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002) | GTA 6 community IDs (status: RUMOR) |
|---|---|---|
| Revolver | Python | Colt Python, S&W Model 29, S&W 629 Classic |
| Pistol | Pistol | Beretta 92FS / Taurus PT92AF, M1911 variant, Glock / P320, Bersa Firestorm |
| Machine pistol / SMG | Tec-9, Uzi 9mm, Silenced Ingram, MP5 | Steyr SPP, MP5A3, B&T APC9 K PRO |
| Shotgun | Shotgun, Stubby Shotgun, S.P.A.S. 12 | Remington 870, double-barreled shotgun |
| Rifle | M4, Ruger | AR-15 variant |
| Heavy / sniper | Sniper Rifle, PSG-1, M60, Minigun, Rocket Launcher, Flame Thrower | None identified in official material |
Two readings jump out. The Python and the MP5 make the jump from 2002 to the new game, at least as silhouettes. And the heavy weapons that defined Vice City’s late-game chaos have not appeared in anything Rockstar has shown.
That gap does not mean they’re cut. Trailers sell story and setting; rocket launchers usually wait for gameplay reveals. But it’s a fair signal that Rockstar’s marketing is pitching grounded crime rather than military spectacle.
For how the city itself has changed since 2002, our “gta 6 map” briefing covers every confirmed region and landmark in Leonida.
When Rockstar usually reveals its arsenal
You won’t get an official weapons breakdown from a story trailer. Rockstar’s pattern on its last two big releases was a dedicated gameplay video a couple of months before launch.
| Game | Gameplay reveal | Launch | What the reveal covered on weapons |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto V | Official Gameplay Video, 9 Jul 2013 | 17 Sep 2013 | Weapon wheel, shooting and weapon customization at Ammu-Nation |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | Official Gameplay Video, 9 Aug 2018 | 26 Oct 2018 | Combat, Dead Eye and the wider systems of the world |
| Grand Theft Auto VI | Not announced | 19 Nov 2026 (CONFIRMED) | Not announced |
If Rockstar follows its own playbook, the window for a gameplay video sits in the months before the November date. That’s an inference from precedent, not a schedule. Our “release date for gta 6” page tracks every confirmed milestone as it lands.
The other big information drop comes from critics. The first “gta 6 reviews” will be the first independent account of the full arsenal, how many weapons there are and how carrying them works, ahead of your own play session.
What it means
Put the confirmed footage and the graded rumors together and a clear picture emerges.
Expect grounded, contemporary weapons first
The community list is full of guns a real Florida criminal could plausibly own: Beretta-pattern pistols, revolvers, pump shotguns, an AR-15. Rockstar’s trailers present this as a crime story about two people, Jason and Lucia, not a war. The weapons visible so far fit that tone.
Expect fictional names
Every precedent says the Beretta-style pistol will be called something like “Pistol,” with a parody manufacturer attached. Don’t expect to see “Colt Python” in your weapon wheel. Expect a Rockstar name that tips its hat to it.
Expect more than the trailers show
Fourteen guns in two trailers and a screenshot drop is a floor, not a ceiling. GTA V launched with a large arsenal and GTA Online kept adding to it for over a decade. Story trailers simply don’t show sniper rifles, explosives or melee in any volume.
Customization is likely but unconfirmed
GTA V had suppressors, scopes, extended magazines and tints. RDR2 had engraving and finishes. Attachments in GTA 6 would follow both precedents, and the GTA V gameplay video showed customization openly. Until Rockstar shows it, though, attachments and an Ammu-Nation return stay Not announced.
Carry limits are the big open question
The single most consequential weapons question is whether you keep GTA V’s bottomless pockets or move to RDR2-style limited carry. The 2022 leak points one way, but it’s old dev footage. Rockstar hasn’t addressed it. Watch for this in any gameplay reveal.
Day-one changes are possible
Weapon balance is exactly the kind of thing studios tune late. If the arsenal shifts after launch, our “gta 6 launch patch” coverage will log what changed. And if you’re planning ahead for install day, our “gta 6 file size” guide covers how much space to clear before preload.
FAQ
Has Rockstar released an official GTA 6 weapons list?
No. Rockstar has shown guns in Trailer 1, Trailer 2 and the official screenshots, but it has not named any weapon, published stats or confirmed a total. Every “confirmed weapons” list online is built from community identifications.
How many weapons are in GTA 6?
Not announced. Fan analysts have matched 14 real-world firearms to guns visible in official material. That number reflects what the trailers happened to show, not the size of the in-game arsenal.
Will GTA 6 use real gun names like Glock or Beretta?
Not announced, and unlikely on precedent. GTA V and GTA Online use fictional names and parody manufacturers. Expect GTA 6 to model guns on real designs while giving them Rockstar names.
Can you customize weapons in GTA 6?
Not announced. GTA V offered attachments and tints, and RDR2 offered cosmetic customization, so it would fit Rockstar’s history. Nothing in the official trailers or screenshots confirms it.
Is there a weapon wheel in GTA 6?
Not confirmed by Rockstar. Reporting on the 2022 leak described weapon selection in an early development build, but Rockstar has stressed that footage is not representative of the final game.
Will GTA 6 limit how many guns you can carry?
Rumored, not confirmed. The idea comes from community readings of the 2022 leaked footage and from Red Dead Redemption 2, where Arthur Morgan stored extra long guns on his horse. Rockstar has said nothing about carry limits.
Which platforms can you use these weapons on at launch?
GTA 6 is CONFIRMED for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on 19 November 2026. A PC version is Not announced.
Where did the Glock and SIG confusion come from?
Both are polymer-framed, striker-fired 9mm pistols with similar blocky slides. In compressed trailer frames the distinguishing details are hard to see, so fan lists record both candidates for what is probably a single in-game gun.
