Is GTA 6 still on track for 19 November? Every signal we are tracking

Grand Theft Auto VI is officially dated for 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, after two slips that pushed it out of 2025 and then past May 2026. I track every earnings call, storefront change and Newswire post that could hint at a third move. Here is the current read, with every claim labelled as confirmed, rumor or not announced.

Last checked: against the most recent Rockstar Newswire post and Take-Two earnings release at time of writing. This page is updated as launch details land, and I re-verify the status box after every quarterly call.

The short answer

Nothing official has moved since Rockstar set 19 November 2026. Every public statement from Rockstar and Take-Two since that date has restated it, and the company’s own site still carries it. The honest position is that the date holds until Rockstar says otherwise, and the signals I watch below are how I would spot a change before the press release lands.

I am not going to pretend a third delay is impossible. Rockstar has now slipped this game twice and delayed Red Dead Redemption 2 twice before that, so the studio’s history earns a degree of caution. But caution is not evidence, and as of my last check there is no credible reporting, filing or storefront change that points to a slip.

What we know

Two delays, two statements

The first public target was simply “2025”, which Take-Two tightened to fall 2025 during its spring 2024 earnings cycle. On 2 May 2025, Rockstar posted on the Newswire that the game would instead arrive on 26 May 2026, apologising that this was “later than you expected” and promising the extra time was needed to deliver the experience fans anticipated. Trailer 2 followed four days later, along with the first official screenshots, the confirmed names of Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval, and the state of Leonida laid out across Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Mount Kalaga and Ambrosia.

The second delay came on 6 November 2025, timed to Take-Two’s quarterly earnings release. Rockstar’s statement said the team was “sorry to add additional time to what we realize has been a long wait” and that the extra months would let it finish the game with the level of polish players expect. The new date, 19 November 2026, is a Thursday, which matches Rockstar’s habit of launching on weekdays rather than the Friday pattern some publishers prefer.

That history matters because of its shape. Both delays were announced roughly six to seven months ahead of the date they replaced, and both were paired with a Take-Two earnings event or a major trailer. Rockstar does not tend to slip a game three weeks out. It makes the call when marketing commitments, manufacturing and retail planning are still flexible, which tells me where on the calendar to look for a third move if one were coming.

How Take-Two frames the date

Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two’s chief executive, has said repeatedly that release dates are set by Rockstar’s development leadership, not by the parent company. On the November 2025 call he described himself as highly confident in the new date, and he has used the same framing in interviews since: Take-Two does not push creative teams to ship before the game is ready, and the delays exist precisely because the publisher defers to Rockstar on quality.

The date sits inside Take-Two’s fiscal 2027, which runs from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. A 19 November launch lands in the fiscal third quarter, the October to December window that already carries the holiday season. Take-Two has publicly positioned fiscal 2027 as a record year on the strength of this release, and that positioning is itself a signal: a company guiding investors toward a record quarter has a strong incentive to flag any slip early rather than let it surprise the market.

The seven signals I track

These are the inputs I check, in rough order of how much weight they carry. A delay announcement is the only thing that confirms a delay, but each of these can tell me the odds are shifting.

1. Take-Two earnings calls

Take-Two reports four times a year, typically in early-to-mid May, early August, early November and early February. Both GTA VI delays were disclosed on or beside an earnings release, because a date change is material information that the company must communicate to shareholders. The quarterly report, the prepared remarks and the analyst question-and-answer session are the single most reliable place for a change to surface.

What I listen for is a change in language. “On track” and “highly confident” are the phrases the company has used so far. Any softening toward “we will update you” or a shift from a specific date to a fiscal window would be a red flag, and it is exactly the kind of shift that preceded the February 2018 move of Red Dead Redemption 2 from spring to October.

2. Rockstar Newswire cadence

Rockstar’s own blog is where both delays were posted, and it is where Trailer 2, the screenshots and the character pages appeared. I check it daily. The useful signal is not frequency, because Rockstar can go months without a GTA VI post and did so between December 2023 and May 2025. The signal is content type: once a studio starts publishing pre-order details, edition breakdowns and gameplay features, it has committed internal marketing budgets that are painful to unwind.

3. PlayStation Store, Xbox Store and retailer listings

Pre-orders have not opened as of my last check, and no edition or price has been announced. When they do open, the storefront listing becomes a live record of the date. If PlayStation or Xbox were to change a release field, or if major retailers moved their placeholder dates in sync, that would be worth taking seriously, because those systems are fed by the publisher.

Individual retailer placeholders mean nothing on their own. Retailers routinely list 31 December of a given year as a stand-in, and a single shop shifting its date is usually a database error rather than intel. I only treat a retail change as a signal when it hits several large chains in the same week.

4. Age ratings

Rating boards publish their decisions, and a Mature or 18 rating from the ESRB, PEGI, Australia’s Classification Board or Brazil’s ClassInd is one of the last administrative steps before a game can go to disc. No GTA VI rating had appeared on any board at my last check, which is normal this far out. Once one appears, it tells me the content is locked, and a locked build is a build that is very unlikely to slip.

5. Marketing beats against the Red Dead 2 precedent

Red Dead Redemption 2 shipped on 26 October 2018. Its third trailer arrived on 2 May 2018, pre-orders opened that June, the first gameplay video came on 9 August 2018 and a second gameplay video followed on 1 October. That is the only modern template for how Rockstar sells a game this size, and it compresses almost all of the heavy marketing into the final six months.

Mapping that template onto a 19 November 2026 launch suggests a third trailer somewhere in the late spring to early summer window, pre-orders around the same period, and gameplay footage in late summer. Those are my expectations, not Rockstar’s commitments, and nobody official has given a trailer date. If the summer passes with no third trailer and no pre-orders, I would raise my internal odds of a slip. For a frame-by-frame record of what has been shown so far, our breakdown of every gta 6 trailer covers both released videos and what the third one could show.

6. Physical production and distribution

A game of this size ships on disc as well as digitally, and discs are pressed weeks before launch. Pack-shots, SKU numbers appearing in distributor databases and early reports of shipments from reputable trade press are all late-stage signals that the date is locked. I weigh these highly because they involve money already spent, but they appear late, so they are confirmation rather than early warning.

7. Studio health and staffing

Rockstar dismissed more than thirty staff across its UK and Canadian studios in late October 2025, which the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain characterised as union-busting and Rockstar characterised as a response to gross misconduct involving leaked confidential information. The dispute has continued through tribunal filings and protests. I note it here because studio disruption is a legitimate variable for schedules, but I have seen no reporting that ties the dismissals to the second delay, and Rockstar has said nothing linking the two.

Here is the current state of each signal in one view.

Signal What I look for Status at last check
Take-Two earnings Language change or new date CONFIRMED on track, 19 November 2026 restated
Rockstar Newswire Pre-order, edition, gameplay posts No pre-order or edition post yet
Storefront listings Date fields and pre-order toggles Pre-orders not announced
Age ratings ESRB, PEGI, ACB, ClassInd entries None published
Marketing beats Trailer 3, gameplay, pre-order window Trailer 3 not announced
Physical production SKUs, pack-shots, shipping reports Nothing reputable reported
Studio health Reported schedule disruption Labour dispute ongoing, no reported schedule link

What is rumored

Everything in this section is unconfirmed. I grade each claim by source quality and phrase it to match.

A third delay into 2027

Status: RUMOR, community speculation only. This chatter spikes after every quiet month, and it has no credible reporter behind it as of my last check. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, the proven reporter on Rockstar’s internal schedule, had not reported any further slip when I last reviewed his coverage, and Take-Two has restated the date on every public occasion since November 2025. I treat the 2027 talk as noise until a named source with a track record says otherwise.

A premium price point

Status: RUMOR, analyst speculation. Several financial and industry analysts have publicly argued that GTA VI could launch at $80 or even $100 given its scale and Take-Two’s pricing power, and the comparable $80 title most often cited in that debate is Nintendo’s Mario Kart World. Zelnick has declined to discuss pricing on earnings calls, and Rockstar has said nothing. No number exists officially, and I will not state one as fact. Our gta 6 price tracker holds the full set of analyst positions alongside what Take-Two has actually said.

Trailer 3 timing

Status: RUMOR, community pattern-matching. The spring-to-summer window I described above is my own extrapolation from Red Dead Redemption 2, and plenty of fans have reached the same conclusion. Rockstar released Trailer 1 a day early in December 2023 after it leaked on social media, and dropped Trailer 2 with no advance notice, so anyone claiming a specific trailer date without an official source is guessing.

A PC version timeline

Status: Not announced. Rockstar has only ever confirmed PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Every prior Rockstar flagship arrived on PC months or years after console, and GTA V took eighteen months, but there is no official statement on a PC release for this game and I would not read any rumor about PC timing as reliable.

Leaked footage and development builds

Status: real events, reported about, not reproduced here. The September 2022 breach exposed dozens of early development clips, and a UK court later convicted the person responsible. Rockstar confirmed the breach at the time and said it did not expect a long-term effect on development. Trailer 1 also leaked a day ahead of schedule in December 2023, prompting the early official release. I will not point readers to any of that material. What I take from it is that Rockstar’s security posture, and the misconduct dismissals in 2025, suggest a studio keeping its finished build very tightly held, which is consistent with a team protecting a date rather than one that has quietly given up on it.

What would actually signal a slip

Fans tend to read silence as bad news, and I think that is the single biggest mistake in GTA VI delay discussion. Rockstar went seventeen months between Trailer 1 and Trailer 2 while the date remained publicly intact for most of that stretch. Silence is Rockstar’s default state, not a signal.

The things that would genuinely change my read, roughly in the order I would expect them:

  • Take-Two softening its language on an earnings call, or declining to restate the date when asked directly.
  • A major Take-Two investor filing that moves guidance language away from fiscal Q3 2027.
  • A named, proven reporter with Rockstar sources, such as Bloomberg’s Schreier, reporting internal schedule trouble.
  • Multiple major retailers moving their dates in the same week after pre-orders have opened.
  • The summer passing with no third trailer, no pre-orders and no rating board entries.

And the things that would not change my read, no matter how loudly they trend:

  • A single retailer changing a placeholder date.
  • An anonymous account on social media claiming insider knowledge with no prior record.
  • The absence of Newswire posts for several weeks.
  • Analyst opinion pieces arguing the game “should” be delayed.

Agent's note

Both GTA VI delays were announced six to seven months before the date they replaced. Working backward from 19 November 2026, that pattern points to Take-Two’s May 2026 results as the single most important date on the calendar. If the company restates 19 November there, Rockstar’s own history says the odds of a slip drop sharply.

What it means

For players, a stable date means the practical questions start to matter. Rockstar games unlock at midnight local time on console with regional staggering, so the gta 6 release time will differ by territory, and we track that separately once Rockstar publishes the official schedule. Red Dead Redemption 2 was a roughly 100 GB install on launch-era hardware, and a 2026 flagship built for current consoles will not be smaller, so clearing space ahead of the gta 6 preload window is worth planning. Our gta 6 file size page is updated the moment a storefront listing exposes a real figure.

For Take-Two, the date is the spine of its fiscal 2027 guidance. The company has told investors to expect a record year, and the holiday quarter is where the bulk of that record would land. A third delay into early 2027 would still fall within the same fiscal year, which is one reason I do not see fiscal pressure alone as a guarantee against a slip. A delay past March 2027 would be a different and far more consequential story, and nothing I have seen suggests it.

For the industry, every other publisher is scheduling around this date. Several titles moved out of fall 2025 when GTA VI was still expected then, and the same dance is now happening around November 2026. If Rockstar were to move again, the ripple would show up in competitors’ schedules within weeks, which is another indirect signal worth watching.

The calendar ahead

These are the checkpoints I have in my diary, with the status of each.

Checkpoint Expected window What it would tell me
Take-Two fiscal Q4 2026 results May 2026 Date restated or language changed; historically the key moment
Possible Trailer 3 Late spring to summer 2026, not announced Marketing engine engaged
Pre-orders and editions Not announced Price, editions and locked date
Take-Two fiscal Q1 2027 results August 2026 Last practical point for a six-month-style slip announcement
Age ratings published Typically weeks before launch Content locked
Take-Two fiscal Q2 2027 results Early November 2026 Final confirmation ahead of launch
Launch 19 November 2026 CONFIRMED

Quick steps: verify the date yourself

  1. Open Rockstar’s official GTA VI page and check the date on the hero banner.
  2. Read the latest quarterly release on Take-Two’s investor relations site for the words “November 19, 2026”.
  3. Check the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store for an official listing before trusting any retailer placeholder.
  4. Search the ESRB and PEGI databases; a rating entry means content is locked.
  5. Ignore any date claim that does not trace back to one of those four sources.

Heads up

Accounts promising early access, leaked builds or “insider” release dates are a common vector for scams and malware, and anyone selling pre-release files is selling stolen property. Rockstar has pursued leakers in court before. Stick to official storefronts and the Newswire.

FAQ

Has GTA 6 been delayed again?

No. The last official change was on 6 November 2025, when Rockstar moved the date from 26 May 2026 to 19 November 2026. Every Take-Two statement since has restated that date, and no credible reporter has reported a further slip as of my last check.

How many times has GTA 6 been delayed?

Twice. It moved from a general 2025 target to 26 May 2026 in May 2025, then to 19 November 2026 in November 2025. Red Dead Redemption 2 was also delayed twice before its October 2018 launch, so this is in line with Rockstar’s recent history rather than a new pattern.

When would a third delay most likely be announced?

If Rockstar follows its own pattern, six to seven months before the date, which points to Take-Two’s May 2026 or August 2026 earnings releases. A date restated in May with unchanged language would be the strongest reassurance available short of pre-orders opening.

Is GTA 6 coming to PC at launch?

Not announced. Rockstar has only confirmed PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Prior Rockstar flagships reached PC well after console, but there is no official timeline for this game.

How much will GTA 6 cost?

Not announced. Analysts have floated figures from $70 to $100, but Rockstar and Take-Two have given no price, and I will not report a number until a storefront or official post carries one.

Where does the game take place?

In the state of Leonida, Rockstar’s take on Florida, with Vice City as its main metropolis. Trailer 2 confirmed regions including the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Mount Kalaga and Ambrosia, and our gta 6 map coverage tracks every landmark identified from official footage.

Marcus Reed runs the GTA 6 desk at RockstarSpy. His beat is everything attached to the next game: release windows, launch details, official trailers, platform plans and the steady drip of leaks that fills the gap between Rockstar announcements. He treats every claim as a question of sourcing first. A Take-Two earnings call or a Rockstar Newswire post gets reported as fact. A datamine or a tipster with a mixed record gets labeled as such. When a story shifts, he updates the piece and says what changed rather than quietly rewriting it. Readers should always be able to tell what is confirmed and what is still talk.
